What’s the difference between ‘Counselling’ and ‘Psychotherapy’?
‘Counselling’ is generally a relatively brief treatment focused on behaviour. It often addresses a particular symptom or situation and may offer suggestions and advice for dealing with it.
‘Psychotherapy’ focuses on thoughts, feelings and ways of being in the world. It allows a deeper exploration to help you understand what drives your behaviours and helps you deal with circumstances in more positive ways. It is a process of gaining insight and awareness that can enhance your ability to make conscious choices and find ways of being that are more fulfilling for you.
